4.6 Conclusion

In dealing with craniopharyngiomas, it is crucial to objectively define the advantages and limits of each surgical technique in terms of outcomes and the prevention of complications. The indications and success of transsphenoidal endoscopic approaches continue to expand, allowing for safe and efficient for tumor resection. Video imaging (high definition and 3D visualization) is now a reality that has improved this surgical field, allowing the endoscope to offer good depth perception. Bimanual microsurgical technique as applied to endoscopic approaches overcomes limitations in tactile feedback. Ultimately, equipoise in assessing each case individually will dictate the optimal outcome (Zada and Cappabianca 2010).
